Field Service Engineer

Bioaxial-Telight is a deep-tech startup developing and selling an innovative Super-Resolution microscopy system for life-sciences researchers. Our solution couples to standard laboratory fluorescence microscopes and achieves true optical super-resolution thanks to a unique combination of crystal optics, fast polarization modulation, laser scanning, and science-grade image acquisition. We are looking for a motivated and resourceful optical/optomechanical engineer to ensure the integration, mounting, installation and calibration of our systems across our customer base in France and elsewhere in Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Assume the role of the first field service engineer for Bioaxial’s flagship product ‘LiveCODIM’, a super-resolution system currently in the first steps of commercialization.
  • Master the main technical building blocks of our solution, notably fluorescence microscopy, polarization optics, laser alignment and free-space optics.
  • Support sales, workshops and on-site demos by leading the mounting, installation, and calibration of LiveCODIM systems in Bioaxial’s facilities and in customer locations across France and several European sites.
  • Measure, characterize, and track key performance metrics such as resolution, photon budget, stability etc. across the various installations.
  • Establish, validate, and document the procedures and best practices of the assembly and the calibration of our optical systems.
  • Closely collaborate with the R&D, Application, and Production teams on the continual development of LiveCODIM; Propose solutions and contribute to improvements of its design and features.
  • Manage and support procurement processes of critical elements such as optical components, light sources, cameras scanners etc. ; Assure quality and maintain stock by tracking orders, performing acceptance tests, benchmarking etc.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in optical setups and optical alignment.
  • Hands-on experience in measurement, performing experiments, including analysis and presentation of results.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Autonomy and high ability to lead and execute projects, independently take decisions and troubleshoot; Self-reliance, a results-oriented approach, and drive are a must.
  • Ability to travel and interface with our sales team and the on-site partners in order to guarantee successful installations.
  • Good working-level written and spoken English.
  • Basic experience with SW such as CAD tools and/or open-source coding tools is a significant advantage.
